Off-Grid Europe Among Top 10 at the 2024 Landespreis.
In its 15th edition, the prestigious Landespreis für junge Unternehmen was awarded in 2024 by the Baden-Württemberg state government and L‑Bank. From 584 applications, Off-Grid Europe proudly secured a spot among the Top 10 – a significant achievement for the innovative company, which participated in the competition for the second time.
Founded in 2010 by Christiane and Mark Kragh, Off-Grid Europe GmbH (OGE) offers comprehensive technical solutions for independent energy supply from renewable sources. The company specializes in photovoltaic and battery storage systems, covering all steps from planning and design to procurement and installation. With its proprietary intelligent software, the Off-Grid Controller, OGE ensures efficient monitoring and control of energy systems, delivering customized turnkey solutions to its customers.
Since 2016, OGE has focused exclusively on projects in Africa, establishing its subsidiary Off-Grid Africa in Senegal in 2020. As part of the ASER 300 flagship project, the company has electrified over 200 rural villages. Innovation is central to OGE’s operations; they recently launched the “Ohms Box,” a compact battery energy storage system (BESS) that generates reliable power in off-grid regions and harsh conditions, suitable even for megawatt-scale installations.
OGE’s vision is to create clean and reliable access to energy worldwide and to promote its productive use across various applications. By delivering scalable and easy-to-maintain energy systems, the company aims to positively impact the environment and local economies while improving the lives of millions. Currently, OGE is working on solar home system orders in Angola and South Africa, as well as large-scale electrification projects in Zambia. Additionally, the company is developing an innovative solar-powered cold storage system called “Much Cooler” in Senegal for the agricultural sector, designed to stabilize supply chains, ensure food quality, and promote fair prices for farmers.
At the award ceremony in Stuttgart, CEO Christiane Kragh accepted the recognition alongside part of the Pfullendorf team: “This recognition inspires us to continue pursuing our goals, fostering innovation, and achieving new milestones in the coming year.”
